January is prime time for Hainan. Haikou, Shenzhou Peninsula and Sanya offer warm-weather alternatives to northern Asia, Europe and North America. Demand can be strong around holidays, so hotels and preferred tee times should be arranged early.

Shenzhen is also attractive, with milder temperatures than summer. Beijing is generally too cold for a normal golf holiday, while Shanghai can be chilly and damp. Kunming may be playable but mornings and elevated locations can feel cold.

Hainan remains the leading choice. Chinese New Year timing changes each year and can affect transport, hotel occupancy and course demand across the country. Travelers should not treat late-winter pricing as uniform.

May is another strong multi-region month, although temperatures and humidity begin rising in the south. Beijing and Yunnan are attractive, Shanghai is generally suitable, and Shenzhen can still work before the most intense summer conditions.

Public holidays can create domestic travel demand. Confirm rail and flight space as part of the itinerary rather than leaving transport until the last minute.
